Springmaid Beach Resort & amp; Conference Center
Colonel Elliott White Springs, World War I Fight Battle Pilot, bought 27 hectares of beachfront property in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1948. The original accommodation resembles a military barracks, rooms containing a built-in concrete bed with twin- size. The rooms are easy to clean by spraying and brushing. Guests bring their own towels and bed linens and are asked to make their own beds. Room cost $ 2.00 per night or $ 1.00 per bed. Rates remain unchanged for almost 30 years.
A large cafeteria is also built on the property and the food is prepared at a shelter in Lancaster SC and transported to the beach every day. Finally a full kitchen is added and food is prepared on site and meals are served in the original cafeteria. Springmaid added their first semi-private room in 1956 consisting of two chambers adjoined to a public bath. The first private room was built in 1966.
The administrative office and four double-storey buildings in private rooms were built between 1970 and 1973. These buildings were the first on the property that had air conditioning.
Starting in 1989, some of the older rooms were torn down and construction began in two additional three-story buildings. The rooms in this building contain television (which was eventually added to all rooms.) The phone was not added to one room until 1990.
In 1992 a 60-unit tower which is now the Palmetto Building opens with the first floor of the Robert L. Reid Conference Center.
In 1995, the Live Oak building, consisting of 232 units, and the second floor of the Robert L. Reid Conference Center opened.
In 2001 the third floor of the Robert L. Reid Conference Center and 154 other rooms in the Palmetto building opened. The Cypress Building was renovated in 2001 and completed 485 resort units.
Affiliates of Integrated Capital of Los Angeles purchased this resort in December 2014 for $ 40 million. Live Oak and Palmetto Tower, with 452 guest rooms, will be renovated. The Cypress and Marlin canteen buildings have been torn down and replaced by new registration areas, bars and restaurants, along with courtyards.

Fishing dock
The original fishing dock was built in 1953, but was destroyed the following year by Hurricane Hazel. The pier was rebuilt in 1959 and destroyed again by an airplane.
In 1973 a new dock was built at the northern end of the resort and remained standing until it was destroyed on October 8, 2016 when Hurricane Matthew passed through the area shortly after making a landing in the south. The dock is the longest in Myrtle Beach, with a length of 1060 feet, 36 feet wide, with 110 feet at the end. Until June 2017, still not rebuilt.
