Sunil Gavaskar was a member of the NCA committee in 2000 and resigned following criticism from NCA Chairman Raj Singh Dungapur on his comments in the newspaper column that it was not true for NCA trainees to get a tour match with the local team's fees. <3> Cricket in his first batch - Murali Karthik, Harbhajan Singh and Nikhil Haldipur were released from the academy for reasons of indiscipline.
