Differences
Second Series : The first year for a new body style. New "wrap-around" windscreen - first truck industry - and optional wrap-around rear window on Deluxe cabs. Power steering and power brakes became available for the first time on GM trucks. Electrical system increased to 12 volts. Only a seven-foot year. Fender has a single headlamp and a one-piece emblem mounted below the horizontal line on the fender. The Cameo Carrier series was introduced.
: Emblem hood wider. Two-piece fender coats are mounted above the horizontal fender line. Last year for the egg box grille.
: Only years for a more open grill. Flat hood with two spears above, similar to the 1957 Bel Air. The Fender's emblem is still above the fender line, but now it's oval, which goes against the previous version in the script.
: The first year for a fleetside bed, a significant redesign of the front end. All light duty trucks are now called "Apache", medium duty trucks called "Viking", and heavy duty trucks called "Spartans". The truck has four lamps instead of the two previous lights and has a shorter grill and a wide running width of the front end. The parking lights are now on the grille instead of in front of the fenders and the hood is similar to the 1955/1956 model, but with a flat "valley" in the middle. First year for air-conditioning equipped with factory. For 1958, GM promoted their fiftieth production year, and introduced an Anniversary model for each brand; Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Chevrolet. The 1958 model shares a common appearance on the top model for each brand; Cadillac Eldorado Seville, Buick Roadmaster Riviera, Oldsmobile Holiday 88, Pontiac Bonneville Catalina, and All-new Chevrolet Bel-Air Impala. Trucks also receive the same attention to appearance, while remaining essentially durable, with minimal jewelry.
: Minimal change from 1958, the most noticeable is the larger hood symbol and more decoration and redesigned badge designs on the fenders. The last year that NAPCO four-wheel drive (Northwestern Auto Parts Company) "Powr-Pak" can be ordered factory.
: Chevy Apache/GMC K-Series menggantikan garis.
