Airedale International Air Conditioning based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK is a manufacturer and distributor of heating, cooling and HVAC systems in the UK.
In addition to its Leeds headquarters, Airedale has manufacturing facilities in South Africa and the United States, exporting to 60 countries worldwide. Airedale is part of the Modine group of companies, based in Wisconsin, USA, which employs approximately 6,400 people in 30 facilities in 16 countries.

Histori
1974 - Formed by two Leeds-based businessmen Alan Duttine and Peter Midgley who recognize the opportunity for air conditioning for a specialized computer and health care environment at the beginning of a new technological era. Alan and Peter who both work for Calverley based on Thermatank hardly know each other, but met by chance, at Leeds Bradford International Airport when their flight was delayed. Both spoke and decided to establish Airedale Air Conditioning in June 1974. Airedale Air Conditioning manufactures the first precision air conditioning unit and condenser unit, VA5 and CU5.
1976 - Export of water to its first overseas client in the Netherlands. The business moves to Clayton Wood Rise on Leeds Ring Road - this building is still known as Airedale House.
1979 - Airedale Park's Park Mills, Rawdon, West Yorkshire
1982 - In May 1982, Airedale Air Conditioning changed its name to Airedale International Air Conditioning Ltd. to reflect its growing export business. AIAC South Africa was formed in Johannesburg to manufacture precision air conditioning systems.
1984 - The first British manufacturer to develop an industrial air conditioner chiller ACC.
1994 - The first manufacturer to use R407C refrigerant in both refrigeration and precision air conditioning units.
2003 - the first precision AC manufacturer in Europe to introduce electronic expansion valves for their products.
2005 - Airedale was purchased by US company Modine, Alan Duttine retired after 39 years and was recognized with OBE for his services to the industry.
2009 - Airedale launched the first IT cooling system, OnRak (TM).
2010 - First to develop a free cooling chiller along with centrifugal compressor, TurboChill FreeCool.
2011 - First to apply microchannel heat exchanger, simultaneous free cooling and centrifugal compressor in the same chiller system - DeltaChill.
2013 - The first British manufacturer to develop a chiller that incorporates a low global warming refrigerant (GWP) R1234ze to withstand British Standards Institution - TurboChill approval. Airedale opened its operations center in Moscow, Russia.
2014 - Airedale acquired Barkell Ltd. [1], the British leader at Air Handling Units. Airedale opens an operations center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
2016 - Her Royal Highness Princess officially opens new Airedale International headquarters and manufacturing facility in Rawdon, Leeds, during a visit on May 10, 2016.
Acquisition by Modine Manufacturing Company
Airedale was privately owned until 2005 when it was acquired by US-owned Modine Manufacturing Company. Modine, with 2014 fiscal revenues of $ 1.5 billion, specializes in thermal management solutions. Modine products are used in light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment (HVAC), off-highway, industrial equipment and cooling systems.
Factory fires
On September 6, 2013, Airedale suffered a fire at his workplace in Rawdon, West Yorkshire, Leeds. The factory was badly damaged; as a result the company moved into a temporary spot on the outskirts of Leeds City Center while the rebuilding work flourished on the existing site. Airedale moved back to a new facility that was re-developed on January 4, 2016
Acquisition of Barkell Ltd.
In a statement to the New York Stock Exchange on February 28, 2014, parent company Airedale International, Modine Manufacturing Company, announced it has completed the acquisition of Consett-based manufacturer of a specially built air handling unit, Barkell Ltd. The acquisition enables Airedale to expand its product portfolio to include various Air Handling Units (AHUs) that offer data centers, offices and industrial refrigeration system facilities that use indirect fresh air as the primary cooling medium.

Along with British operations in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Airedale has manufacturing facilities in South Africa and the United States. Airedale is the only manufacturer of precision air conditioning systems in Africa. In November 2013, Airedale opened its operations center in Moscow and at Dubai Airport Freezone in February 2014.
Products
Airedale has a number of products in the top five range of AC products. This range includes Precision Air Conditioning, IT cooling, Cooling, Comfort cooling, Condenser & amp; Condensing Unit and Air Handling Unit.
Airedale's business mainly comes from the data center market, other markets include refrigeration, telecommunications, commercial air conditioning and laboratory refrigeration.
Airedale also provides building management systems and controls the design and integration, service, maintenance, spare parts and offers air conditioning and refrigeration courses through on-site training schools. A dedicated project team manages large-scale and complex upgrade programs for key customers including major telecom providers in the country.
