Ichthyosis vulgaris (also known as "autothomal dominant ichyyosis," and "Ichthyosis simplex") is a skin disorder that causes dry and scaly skin. This is the most common form of ichthyosis, affecting about 1 in 250 people. For this reason it is known as common ichthyosis . It is usually an autosomal dominant derivative disease (often associated with filaggrin), although a rare non-hereditary version called ichthyosis is obtained.

Presentations
The symptoms of ichthyosis vulgaris derivative forms are usually absent at birth but generally develop between 3 months and 5 years. The symptoms will increase with age, although they may grow worse in old age.
His condition is not life-threatening; the impact on the patient, if it is a mild case, is generally limited to mild itching and social effects of having skin with unusual appearance. People with mild cases have symptoms that include scaly patches on the shin, fine white scales on the forearms and upper arms, and rough palms. The person with the mildest case has no symptoms other than fainting, telling the "mosaic line" between the Achilles tendon and the calf muscles.
Severe cases, though rare, do exist. Severe cases involve scaling up of scales everywhere, with areas of the body that have the least affected concentration of sweat glands. Areas where the skin is rubbing against each other, such as the underarms, groins, and folded "elbow and knee" areas, are less affected. When the buildup of the scales is bad, people with severe cases experience "itching" when they need to sweat but can not because of the scales. Various topical treatments are available to "peel" the scales. These include lotions containing alpha-hydroxy acids.
Related conditions
Many people with severe iktiosis experience sweating problems because of the buildup of scales on the skin. This can cause problems such as "itchy itching" or problems associated with overheating. The majority of people with vulgaris may sweat at least a little. This paradox means most will be more comfortable living in a hot and humid climate. Sweating helps remove scales that enhance the appearance of the skin and prevent itching ".
Dry skin will crack on numbers or extremities and make bloody wounds. Skin feels pain when inflamed and/or tight.
For children and adolescents: psychological prevention measures may include an inconsistent self-image, mood fluctuates due to cyclical epidemics, susceptible to addiction, may be socially and/or separated when the skin feels infected, pre-occupation with appearance.
Strong air conditioning and excessive alcohol consumption can also increase the buildup of scales.
More than 50% of people with ichthyosis vulgaris have several types of atopic diseases such as allergies, eczema, or asthma. Another common condition associated with ichthyosis vulgaris is keratosis pilaris (a small bulge especially appears on the back of the upper arm).

Genetics
Ichthyosis vulgaris is one of the most common genetic disorders caused by a single gene. This disorder is believed to be caused by a mutation into a gene encoding profilaggrin (a protein converted into a filaggrin that plays an important role in the structure of the skin). Approximately 10% of the population has several mutations that damage the gene grangrin gene that is also associated with atopic dermatitis (another skin disorder often present with ichthyosis vulgaris). Appropriate mutations are only known for some cases of ichthyosis vulgaris.
Generally considered to be the dominant autosomal condition, ie, a single genetic mutation that causes illness and the affected person has a 50% chance of continuing the condition to their child. There are several studies that suggest it may be semi-dominant. This means that a single mutation will cause mild cases of ichthyosis vulgaris and mutations in both copies of the gene will result in more severe cases.

Treatment
Although there is no way to cure the disease itself, there are several ways to reduce the symptoms. These include medical help in pill form, and use heavy lotions and oils.
To maintain healthy skin after symptoms have dampened people who have the disease is advised to continue to walk normally with their life but to take precautions while bathing. This is for shorter and cooler bath than usual so as not to make skin stress. It is also known to help use bar soap, not body fluid cleansers.
