A conditioner (or hay conditioner ) is a farming tool that crinkles and crushes freshly cut grass to improve faster and even drier. Drying straw efficiently is the most important for the first cutting of straw plants, consisting of rough stems that take longer to remove moisture than finer textured straw, such as second and subsequent cuttings.
A conditioner consists of two grooved rollers that the straw is forced through, causing the rod to divide, allowing the fluid trapped behind the cell wall (sap and cell sap) to leak out and also provide more surface area for evaporation. A stand-alone conditioner is no longer used in most farms, because the conditioner has been inserted into the cutter-conditioner , which combines the cutter and conditioner into one machine. The names Haybine and Discbine are the brand names of lawn mowers, although some farmers use these names in general.

Mower
Mower-conditioner is the principal of making large scale straw. Mower-conditioner is defined by a mechanism that accomplishes cutting and conditioning.
There are three types of cutting machines: crescent stem cutting machines, lawn mowers, and drum cutting machines. A crescent stem cutting machine uses a reciprocating knife to mow the grass and usually uses a reel to fold grass over a knife. The mower has a number of hubs across the cutting width, each hub has a small disk (18 ") with a knife. The drum cutting machine uses two or three large plates (called drums, about 36" across) that rise above the ground as they spin. The main advantages of crescent bar machines over cutting machines and drum cutting machines are reduced horsepower requirements. The disadvantage is the extra maintenance required due to the high number of moving parts and the goods used. The lawn mowing machine discs are historically regarded as "all eggs in one basket" type cutting machine as all the cutter hubs are in one large gearbox. If a knife of something and toothed teeth breaks, the whole gearbox will have a fatal failure, and nothing will be fixed. If anything is broken, everything is destroyed. The drum cutting machine prevents this by having two belt-driven drums compared to six or more gear-driven hubs. Modern disc cutting machines use isolated gearboxes, and if one fails can be exchanged without rebuilding the whole machine.
The conditioner comes in three main types: rubber-roller conditioner, steel-roller, and hitting. The roller conditioner consists of two opposite scrolls that have interlocked patterns. The roll has a rubber or steel pattern and the main axle of steel. Plants wrinkled between rollers, reducing drying time. The flail conditioner is a steel V arrangement on the main axle that overpowers the plant against the top of the cutter-conditioner. The flail conditioner reduces the drying time by removing the wax layer on the plant.
Although conditioners can shorten the dry time of the straw, they can come up with problems in the straw fields. The space between two opposite rolls can be reduced or increased by the user's needs, but there is a maximum opening area. This can cause damage or problems with the machine. If the straw is wet or lying in the fields, he can gather together when pushed into the conditioner rolls. This can make the rolls jam, even causing the straw to wrap completely around them. If caught early, the user can turn off the engine and cut the free straw by hand. If not caught as early as this can stop the bars rolling, so stop the belt from turning the engine, then stop the tractor. If this happens, someone sees a major problem with their machine. Not only can damage the reels, but also the belt on the cutter-conditioner machine can snap and the tractor itself will receive a large amount of pressure on the engine. While this can be a big money and time issue, if users are alert and constantly aware of their equipment performance, this issue should not be more than just a small stop.
Haybine is the brand name of the first cutter-conditioner. It combines a crescent rod cutting machine and a straw cooler to encourage faster drying of straw in one process. The current version produced by New Holland is branded Discbine, because they now have faster disk cutting machines.
