the May Apply Terms and Conditions is a documentary that discusses how companies and governments take advantage of user-provided information when agreeing to browse websites, install apps, or purchase items online. Created in 2013 by Cullen Hoback, it discusses the language used in user service agreements on the World Wide Web, and how online service providers collect and use user and customer information.
The film criticizes companies such as Facebook, Google and LinkedIn for having poor and misleading privacy policies/terms of service, which use language that is not user friendly in long documents and allows companies to collect user information and legally grant it to third parties. The film aims to alert people of the risk of clicking, "I Agree", after scrolling the pages of text that is not interesting.
Mark Zuckerberg appeared in the movie.
