Smart thermostat is a device that can be used with home automation and is responsible for controlling the heating and/or conditioning of the home air. They perform similar functions with programmable thermostats because they allow users to control their home temperatures throughout the day using schedules, such as setting different temperatures at night.
As thermostats are connected, they are connected to the Internet. They allow users to customize the heating settings from other devices connected to the internet, such as smartphones. This allows the user to easily set the temperature remotely. This ease of use is critical to ensuring energy savings: research has shown that households with programmable thermostats actually have higher energy consumption than simple thermostats, because people are programming them incorrectly or disabling them completely.
The smart thermostat also records internal/external temperatures, the time of the HVAC system has run and can even tell you if your air filter needs to be replaced. This information is usually displayed later on devices connected to the internet.

Mempelajari termostat
Some smart thermostats, such as the Nest thermostat, can automatically learn when the house is likely to be occupied, and when the possibility is empty. This allows to automatically pre-heat or pre-cool the house, so at a comfortable temperature when a resident arrives. If residents and lifestyles change, this smart thermostat will adjust the schedule gradually, maintaining energy and comfort saving.

Connected thermostat
The connected thermostat is one that can be controlled via an internet connection, but will not provide any analytical information.
The zoned system
Instead of controlling the temperature of the entire house, the categorized system can control every room. This can increase energy savings, for example by heating or cooling just an office-house and not a bedroom and other empty areas during the day.
Studying the zoned system
The most advanced intelligent thermostats combine the two: they can learn when every room of the house is usually occupied and automatically schedules the heating for the room appropriately. Currently, the only system available for home use is Genius Heat.
