The Genesee Valley Greenway is the railroadway in the west valley of Genesee New York.
The trail stretches for 90 miles (140 km) along railroads on the Pennsylvania Railroad and adjacent ground from the Genesee Valley Canal. The low-grade trail is a multi-purpose trail that is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing.
Greenway is managed by New York State Office of Parks, Historic Recreation and Preservation (NYSÃ, OPRHP) and Friends of the Genesee Valley Greenway. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is a partner in Greenway management before transferring the jurisdiction of their land to NYSÃ, OPRHP in 2010. The project started in 1991 as a way to reuse most of the land left behind the old railroad. Construction and renovation of the ground for the trail was under way in 1998.
The Genesee Valley Greenway cuts with the Erie Canal Heritage Trail in the southern city of Rochester in Genesee Valley Park, thus forming part of a network of green corridors for pedestrians and cyclists stretching across New York State. In 2016, Greenway passes Monroe, Livingston, Wyoming and Allegany districts, connecting the City of Rochester and Cuba Village, with plans to eventually extend the trail to Hinsdale in Cattaraugus County.

Path conditions
Since the northern part of the Greenway is converted into a railroad track, it is relatively smooth, straight, and flat. Part of the trail is close, and south, Letchworth State Park is very hilly and heavy.
If the road crosses roads and waterways, many structures used to support the former railway are reused, or new prefabricated bridges have been placed on old abutment bridges. The roads that run across the Greenway fall into two general categories: Roads built when the railroad or Greenway operates, which usually have an even-level road with Greenway or (for larger highways) a bridge in which one crosses the other ; and roads built when railroads are abandoned, whose intersections may be difficult to cross because of the height difference between the highway and the Greenway, sometimes accomplished through steep climbs or transitions.
