There are various allergies that can be suffered by dogs. Although usually seen through skin conditions, there are a number of symptoms and other warning signs to look for.
Dog allergies can occur as in their human friends. These allergies usually manifest themselves as skin conditions. What it will do is provoke the dog's immune system to overreact in the form of a number of different symptoms, especially skin irritation. Unfortunately, allergies are becoming more common every day just as with humans.
Allergic skin irritation is fairly easy to identify. Some of the symptoms are redness, itching, hair loss and recurrent skin infections due to irritation. The dog may start scratching itself more so as to bring skin problems.
When looking for symptoms, there are various things that can help identify whether the dog is suffering from allergies. Sometimes, cigar-shaped mites will appear on the skin of dogs. This mite lies in the hair follicles and skin oil glands. While it is possible to identify what kinds of allergies the dog has, it is best to seek the attention of a veterinarian to identify the best possible treatment. The veterinarians often recommend on the Benadryl or Zyrtec tables to address this issue.
There are several types of dog allergy dogs that may suffer. Five major allergies include food allergies, flea allergies, bacteria, contacts, and atopic allergies.

Food
Dog food allergies are a common source of health problems due to the fact that the symptoms they cause include rashes, itchy skin or soft skin, gastrointestinal disorders and swelling. The materials usually behind this allergic response are usually subtle proteins. Commonly offensive protein sources include beef, soy, chicken, and turkey. The new protein is a protein that is not a common ingredient in dog food, and is therefore not a common allergen. A new protein diet forms most of the hypoallergenic dog food diet.
Flea
Just like a food allergy, the dog will develop redness on the skin, itching, and may start chewing on the spot. The main cause of dog lice is a flea spit that disrupts the dog's skin. Similar to mosquitoes, lice suck blood from dogs. The possible treatment is to give the dog a bath in cold water with a shampoo designed for lice. If a dog chews on its own skin, antibiotics are sometimes necessary, depending on the severity of the problem.
Bacteria
Bacterial allergies can be identified with red patches, pus bags, hair loss and skin formation that look like ringworm. Typically, allergic bacteria are secondary to other problems that dogs may have such as parasitism or hormonal disorders. It's important to do a blood test to see what the real problem is.
Contact
The symptoms of contact allergies are very similar to the symptoms of flea allergy and bacteria. The cause of contact allergies is the dogs in contact with various types of allergens. Anything from blankets, chemicals, plants, or household cleaning products can cause contact allergies. There are several different treatment methods including the use of certain types of shampoo, prescribed oral steroid form, or natural treatments such as omega-3.
Atopi
Allergy atopy starts with itching, biting, hair loss and face rubbing. Other symptoms may be papules, namely small red bumps, or pustules, which are small lesions that resemble acne. Allergy atoms are usually caused by ticks, but can also be caused by air, chemicals, and by many common products found in your home.
