Trane Inc. is a manufacturer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) as well as building management systems and controls. This company is a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand and is a substitute for American Standard Companies. It makes products under the brand name Trane and American Standard.
As a global company, Trane's international headquarters are in Piscataway, New Jersey. Trane employs more than 29,000 people in 104 manufacturing sites in 28 countries, and has annual sales of more than $ 8 billion. History
In 1885, James Trane, a Norwegian immigrant from TromsÃÆ'¸, opened his own pipe and pipe shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He designed a new type of low pressure steam heater system, Trane steam heating. Ruben Trane, James's son, obtained a mechanical engineering degree (B. S. 1910) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and joined his father's plumbing company. In 1913, James and Reuben founded The Trane Company. It was the invention of the Reuben radiator convector in 1923 that firmly establishes the company's reputation as an innovator, a reputation the Trane person has built since then.
In 1916, Tranes was no longer in the plumbing business, but instead focused on manufacturing heating products. Ruben fabricated the idea of ​​the first convector radiator in 1925, which replaced the heavy, heavy metal radiator that prevailed at the time. The first air-conditioning unit was built in 1931.
In 1982, Trane bought General Electric's Central Air Conditioning Division. With that purchase came many of the most recognizable features of Trane housing AC products. Many of these features, like the typical red "Climatuff" compressor, "Spine-Fin" all spiked aluminum outer coils and all the aluminum evaporator coils, are still found in Trane's home appliances lane.
In 1984, Trane was acquired by American Standard Inc., and became a fixture in the American Standard Companies business. After leveraged purchases in 1988, American Standard returned as a publicly owned company in 1995.

On February 1, 2007, American Standard Companies announced it would divide the three divisions. The company sold the kitchen and bathroom divisions and separated WABCO, the American Standard vehicle control division, while maintaining The Trane Company. American Standard later changed its name to Trane Inc. effective November 28, 2007.
Acquisition by Ingersoll Rand
On December 17, 2007, Trane announced it had agreed to be acquired by Irish-based Ingersoll Rand in cash and stock transactions. Sales completed on June 5, 2008.
