Republic Polytechnic (Abbreviation: RP ) is a tertiary institution located in Singapore. Established in 2002, it is the first school system in Singapore to use problem-based learning (PBL) for all diploma programs.
Unlike polytechnics in the United States and Britain, Singapore's polytechnic received most of its students after high school, which after 10 years of formal education. Diplomas in specialized fields of study, Biomedical Science for example, are generally awarded after completion of 3 years of study.
The Republican Polytechnic project team began operations at the Data Storage Institute, National University of Singapore in January 2002. On July 1, 2002, he moved to Tanglin Campus previously occupied by the Ministry of Education, Singapore. The Polytechnic opened its doors for the first intake of students in 2003 before moving to the current Woodlands campus in 2007. The Polytechnic sees 12 students graduating in 2017, as well as the 15th anniversary of the polytechnic.
