Park City Mountain Resort is a ski resort in western United States in Park City, Utah, located 32 miles (51 km) east of Salt Lake City. Opened in 1963, the resort has become a major tourist attraction for skiers from all over the United States, as well as a major company for many Park City residents. Park City , as the ski resort and its territory is known, contains several training courses for the US Ski Team, including slalom and a giant slalom run. During the 2002 Winter Olympics, the resort hosted snowboarding events and alpine giant alpine slalom shows. The resort was purchased by Vail Resorts in 2014 and combines the resort with the nearby Resort Canyons through an interconnecting gondola to create the largest ski area in the United States at the time. It has since been surpassed by Powder Mountain in 2016.
During the ski season, most of the slopes and lifts are open from 09:00 to 16:00.
Park City is one of the mountains featured in the Shaun White Snowboarding video game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Histori
The resort opened on December 21, 1963 as a Treasure Mountain by United Park City Mines. The company is the last surviving mining company in Park City, and the resort opened with funding from a federal government program intended to revive a depressed economy. When it was first opened, it boasts the longest gondola in the United States, as well as a double chairlift, J-bar lifts, bases and peak lodgings, and a nine-hole golf course. The gondola is a four-passenger polyg-Heckel-Bleichert (PHB, German air ropeway company). His brother's elevator was built in Sugarloaf/USA in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, after Sugarloaf management members visited the Park City lift.
When the first slope was open to the public, the special Skier subway was used to transport skiers nearly 2.5 miles (4.0 km) to the mountain through the black solid tunnel Tunnel on the mines, where the skiers later riding a mining lift that lifts them 1,750 feet (530 m) to the surface, and from there they have access to the entire mountain. The air tram used to transport the ore was changed to a chair. To this day, there are still more than 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of old silver mining and tunnels under the slopes at Park City Mountain Resort and its neighboring Deer Valley resort.
The name of Treasure Mountain was changed to Park City Ski Area for its fourth season of 1966-67, and in 1996, known as Park City Mountain Resort . The resort has grown to include eight peaks and nine bowls, with 3,300 hectares (13.4 km 2 ) of skis and 16 chairs hanging. The resort also has developed summer activities including alpine slides, alpine coasters, zip-lines, and several hiking and biking trails.
A sister ski area, originally known as Park City West and then as the Canyons Resort, opened in 1968. Deer Valley Resort opened in December 1981, at the former site of Snow Park. (1946-69).
2002 Winter Olympics
During the 2002 games, the resort hosts giant men's and women's slalomes, giant slalom snowboarders for men and women, and a halfpipe snowboarding event for men and women. The resort's Eagle Race Arena and Eagle Superpipe are used during the Olympics. The temporary stadium was established at each end of the show with an audience standing area on each side, creating a combined capacity of 16,500 people. 99.8 percent of the tickets available for the event at the resort were sold, with a total of 95,991 spectators watching the event at the resort. During the game, 96 percent of the resort is open for normal seasonal operations, making it the only place to allow viewers to go and re-enter.
Litigation 2012
In March 2012, Powdr Corporation (owner of Park City Mountain Resort) announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Talisker Land Holdings, LLC (Talisker), owner of Canyons Resort, and United Park City Mines Company, both partial land owners of the resort. The lawsuit filed by Powdr Corp. is a response to the issue of eviction notices by Talisker, an entity that owns most of the land from the actual ski tracks that have leased it to Powdr Corp. (a continuation of the lease made between Park City Mine and Powdr Corp. as Talisker buys land from Park City Mine). Powdr Corp. claims that it has initiated talks with Talisker to extend their lease until 2051, and that Talisker refused to agree terms and threatened to close the resort. In response, Talisker claims that Powdr Corp. has failed to agree to new terms set by Talisker, and that they never threatened to close the resort. Powdr Corp. sued Talisker for $ 7,000,000 for damages and penalties for the threat of closing the resort.
Park City Mountain Resort has rented land on which ski runs cost $ 155,000 annually, with an option to renew the lease for 20 years. In 2011, when this option matures, Powdr Corp. fails to renew the lease in a timely manner and sends a letter two days after the lease term expires. Eight months later, Powdr Corp. received a letter from Talisker that their lease was over and they had to hand over the land and repair it to Talisker. In 2013, Talisker rented the Canyons Resort to Vail Resorts which then took legal action. Towards the end of May 2013, notice of expulsion is presented at PCMR to clear rental land in the ski area. ( Greater City Co. v. United Park City Mines 120500157 (Summit County Utah 20140521).).
On September 11, 2014, Vail Resorts announced that they had purchased Park City Mountain Resort for $ 182.5 million, and it would combine the resort with an adjacent resort canyon during the 2015 summer for the 2015-16 season.
Park City Mountain Resort under Vail Resorts
When the purchase was completed, Vail added Park City Mountain Resort to the EPIC season graduation program for the 2014-15 season. In 2015, PCMR's merger with Gorges was carried out by Doppelmayr USA as part of a project that built two new elevators and moved the third one. A new gondola called Quicksilver was built between the bottom of the Silverlode Express lift at PCMR and a point below the summit of Iron Mountain in the Gorges. The King Con Express high-speed quad was upgraded to a six pack of high speed, while the original King Con lift was moved to replace the Motherlode triple chairlift. Improvements to the PCMR side were made to reduce expected congestion in Silverlode and King Con from additional gondola interconnects. The former resort of the Gorge Gorge was renamed to The Village Canyon in the City Park and the entire resort combined now operates under the name of Gunung Mountain Resort Resort.
The Park City Mountain Resort is home to many ski schools run by mountains, but is also home to a private ski school. (Park City Freestyle, Park City United Team, Park City Park Team) Run by Mick Berry - Park City Freestyle, Chris "Hatch" Haslock - Park City United Team, Jesse Hunt - Park City Ski Team.
