Careers
Poliquin began working as a strength trainer while he was at graduate school in Canada. He helped popularize the German Volume Training. In the late 1990s Poliquin founded Poliquin Performance, opening the first Polyquin Performance Center in Phoenix, Arizona in 2001, and the Poliquin Strength Institute in East Greenwich, Rhode Island in 2009. During this time he certified a trainer at Poliquin International Certification Program ( PICP), which includes a method of measuring the body's hormones, which it finds, is called BioSignature Modulation. In September 2013 Poliquin split with Poliquin Performance (now renamed to Poliquin Group). He then founded another fitness company called Strength Sensei. He has trained many Olympic and professional athletes.
Poliquin publishes articles in science journals and strength and conditioning studied by colleagues. His training theories were introduced to the bodybuilding community in 1993 through his articles for the Muscle Media 2000 magazine, and after 1998 through the online version and printed Testosterone Magazine (now known as T-Nation). He coined the term "disciplinary myth" to show that fitness results depend on how motivated a gymgoer is. As a columnist, he has written over 600 articles in various publications. In addition, he is the author of eight books, many of which have been translated into 12 different languages, including Swedish, German, French, Italian, Dutch, and Japanese. His first book, The Poliquin Principles formulated a basic summary of his training methods and provided insight into training regimens from some of the world's top athletes.
