History

Aggreko was founded in Holland by Luc Koopman in 1962. He moved to Scotland in 1973 and was acquired by Christian Salvesen plc in 1984. He was removed from Christian Salvesen and first registered on the London Stock Exchange in 1997.

The company acquired substantially all activities (other than those related to large gas turbines) from General Electric Energy Rentals for a total consideration of approximately US $ 212m in 2006. It became the sole supplier for temporary power and temperature control for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the sole supplier for temporary power for the 2012 London Olympics in 2012. It is also a provisional providers force for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and air conditioning and power for the 2017 Final WNBA.

In 2012, Aggreko acquired 100% of Poit Energia's operations, a supplier of power tools in Latin America.
